Outdoor Music Extravaganzas Rule the Weekend

KROQ WEENIE ROAST Y FIESTA: It's roasting as hot as ever this year, in terms of music (although we remember a few strip-down Weenie weekends where it sizzled, temp-wise). Weezer, TRVS & DJ AM, Kings of Leon, Jimmy Eat World, and the always colorful Yeah Yeah Yeahs are on the blast-it-out-big bill. Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, May 16.

LA LATIN JAZZ FESTIVAL: Oh, we see the words "Greek Theatre" and we go straight into a daydream of summer-based tune pleasures. So nice. Even nicer is this fest, which features Giovanni Hidalgo and Jose Rizo's Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars. Plus: a Caribbean Jazz Project Reunion. Reunions are the best. 7PM, Saturday, May 16.

DOHENY BLUES FESTIVAL: B.B. King and Brian Setzer have us sold, but the roster's a long one. And the Blues Fest is at Doheny State Beach, so you're already feeling the oceany breezes and beachside vibes, we bet. It's a fest with legs and great word of mouth, because it always has the big stars and the big setting. Nice. May 16-17.
