Ripley's Refresh

The dino-clock-iest of Hollywood Boulevard landmarks gets a do-over.

If there's ever a day where someone claims some tourist -- or, let's be honest, a local -- hasn't snapped off a dozen photos of the clock-chomping dino bursting through the Ripley's roof in Hollywood, we'll need proof of that assertion.

Because, over the years, it truly has become one of the much-photographed symbols of a much-photographed boulevard.

But beneath Mr. Scary-Eyed Dino? Things are a-changin'. So much a-changin' that the Ripley's Believe It or Not Hollywood Odditorium has debuted a new, refurbed look following a multi-month closure.

What's new? Props for "King Kong" and "The Wizard of Oz" as well as dog armor and candy wrapper fashion.

Candy. Wrapper. Fashion. Oh Ripley's. The whimsy.

And celebrity portraits "carved out of phone books." Right? You were so totally going to take that hobby up this year.

A whole slew of things have changed inside, says a rep, but let us soothe your worries here: The dino remains. What would our happy tourists, and neighbors, do, without that backwards clock to tell us Hollywood Standard Time?

For a further peek you can follow Ripley's Hollywood. (A final note: The official reopen is slated for mid-January, but the Ripley's site says the refreshed attraction is now open.)
