Tonight: “Amelie”

The winsome modern classic plays in Long Beach.

"AMELIE": We're forever needling and nudging people to see decades-old movies on the big screen when they get a chance. But what of a movie a year shy of its 10th? Yes, we're nudging you. Nudging you all the way to the Art Theatre in Long Beach. "Amelie" + big screen=hearts forever. It runs through Sunday, June 20 at 11 a.m. daily (so, more "today" than "tonight," note).

JAZZY TONES: Melody Gardot is an inspiration in the music therapy circles; she also has that voice and style. You know that voice and style. She's at El Rey tonight. And Barbara Morrison headlines Wine.Jazz.Moonlight at Hollywood & Highland. The tunes are free, wine tasting's $10.

KIMBERLY CALDWELL: The "American Idol" second-seasoner has a debut record due this summer -- it's called "Without Regret" -- and a concert tonight at Hotel Cafe. Bet she'll be singing "Mess of You," which is her first single, at the show. 9 p.m.
