For a quick weekend escape about 90 miles south of Los Angeles there's the Grand Del Mar Mediterranean-style resort near the Del Mar Race track. Apart from the obvious spa, golf (they have a course designed by Tom Fazio), hiking, tennis, horseback riding and pool action, the sprawling grounds hold the Addison restaurant for fine dining.
