Brush Fire Burns Alongside 57 Freeway in Diamond Bar

A brush fire alongside the 57 Freeway in the Diamond Bar area burned about 16  acres Wednesday and forced a partial closure of the freeway, but not structures were threatened and no injuries reported.

The fire broke out around noon near Brea Canyon Road, near the Los Angeles County-Orange County border. The northbound freeway was shut down at Lambert Road in Brea, and Brea Canyon Road just west of the freeway was closed at Tonner Canyon Road as helicopter crews made water drops on the blaze.

About an hour later, crews reported that the fire had been held to roughly five to seven acres, and some northbound lanes of the 57 Freeway were being reopened.
