Church Volunteer Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relations With Minor in Diamond Bar

A 55-year-old volunteer at a church in Diamond Bar was being held in lieu of $140,000 bail Tuesday after his arrest on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a girl when she was 16 years old.

The alleged victim, who is now 18, reported on Feb. 21 that she was in a sexual relationship with suspect Chin Lim Chook of Rosemead, who was a volunteer at River of Life Community Church, according to Lt. Andrew Meyer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau.

"These incidents took place when the victim was just 16 years old and a member of the church," Meyer said. "The victim stated that the suspect would have sex with her at the church as well as provide her with pornography to watch."

Chook was arrested at his home by sheriff's Special Victims Bureau detectives on March 4 and was booked on suspicion of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and oral copulation of a minor.

Special Victims Bureau detectives believe there may be additional victims and urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the bureau's tip line at (877) 710-5273 or by email at specialvictimsbureau@lasd.org.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or lacrimestoppers.org.
