A man on his way to work was hospitalized Friday morning after he was shot in the face while driving a pickup in Santa Ana.
The victim crashed his work truck head-on into a tree on Edinger Avenue after the shooting, which might be a random attack, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. The man, a supervisor for a piping company, is expected to survive.
The driver was the only person in the pickup.
Police suspect another driver or someone on a street corner shot randomly or missed another target, Bertagna said.
"We're looking for witnesses and video," he said.
Anyone with helpful information for investigators was encouraged to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
