Family Grieves Dad Killed by Hit-And-Run Driver in Yucaipa

Victim was walking home from church with his wife.

Police were searching for a suspect who fatally struck a man walking home with his wife in Yucaipa on Thursday night.

Cesar Flores, 34, was killed when a car hit him from behind around 10:50 p.m. as he walked home from church in the 33900 block of Avenue E. Witnesses said the driver did not slow down or attempt to break.

The hit-and-run footage was caught by a surveillance camera across the street from where the incident took place.

Flores and his wife Yolanda celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in June and have seven children.

Yolanda is grieving her husband's death.

"He was my best friend, my only friend," said Yolanda. "He was always helping other people. No matter how late, how tired, he was always helping everybody."

Sheriff's deputies are searching for a light-colored, late model car that likely has significant damage to the right front fender and hood.

A fund has been set up at Citibank for Flores and his family.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Yucaipa Police Department at 909-918-2328.
