Investigators were searching for a man suspected of stalking at least three female hikers on a San Bernardino County trail - and in one case leaving what appeared to be semen on one of their cars, sheriff's deputies said Monday.
The most recent incident was reported Saturday by a hiker on a Blue Mountain trail in Grand Terrace (map), the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Detectives learned that a man who frequents the area in a white van had on multiple occasions used his saliva to draw hearts on the victims' car windows while they were out on the trail.
One of the hikers told deputies she discovered what appeared to be semen on her car. A DNA sample was collected to try and identify the man.
Deputies also asked any other hikers who may have been victimized to come forward.
The man was described as in his 40s with a dark complexion, a medium build and short dark hair.
Last year, a man was arrested in the same area after a hiker complained that she had received unwanted notes and flowers on her car, deputies said.
