A false alarm about a child possibly in the Los Angeles River triggered a big response as scores of firefighters searched a six-mile stretch of the river in Canoga Park.
The report came in about 11 a.m. in the 6800 block of Jordan Avenue, at the head of the Los Angeles River, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Scores of LAFD responders scoured a six-mile stretch by ground and air between Canoga Park and the Sepulveda Flood Control Basin, said Brian Humphrey, a department spokesman.
