Man Found Dead in Santa Ana Apartment

One of the man's five roommates found him dead inside the two-bedroom apartment, police say

A homicide investigation was underway Wednesday after a man in his 50s was found dead in a Santa Ana apartment he shared with five roommates, police said.

One of the roommates returned to the two-bedroom apartment in the 1300 block of North Harbor Boulevard about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, when he found the man dead inside, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

None of the other roommates were home at the time of the discovery, police said.

"We heard the sirens coming, we heard all of the ambulances coming in," neighbor Jay Robut said. "We're pretty close so you could hear all the commotion going on."

Police are investigating the death as a homicide and were waiting for a search warrant to remove evidence from the apartment, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

After interviewing all five roommates, police do not believe they were involved, Bertagna said.

"I asked the detectived about a threat to the community, if there is an ongoing threat, and they say no," Bertagna said.
