11-Year-Old Girl Killed in Crash in Front of Boyle Heights Taco Stand

An 11-year-old girl was killed and three others injured, including a 15-month-old, Friday night in a crash near a food stand in Boyle Heights.

Two of the victims suffered critical injuries and two others were in fair condition as a result of the crash, which was reported at 7:08 p.m. in the 900 block of South Marietta Street, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Police said all the victims were pedestrians. A report from the scene showed three damaged vehicles near what was described as a taco stand.

A nitrous oxide tank was found in the vehicle that caused the crash. As a result, police are investigating the possibility that it was used to make the car run faster or to be inhaled.

Two people, the driver and his passenger, were taken into custody and are reported to be cooperating.
