Fundraiser For Boy Fatally Struck By Stray Bullet in Highland

The boy was playing with a stuffed animal in his grandmother's front yard when he was struck by a stray bullet.

Community members gathered to raise money for the funeral of a 4-year-old boy who was killed by a stray bullet in Highland Thursday.

Daniel Munoz was playing with a stuffed animal in his grandmother's front yard when he was fatally shot. His aunt was a few feet away and carried him to house nearby for help.

Munoz's mother had taken his older siblings to Knott's Berry Farm for the day, but because there wasn't room in the car, left him at his grandmother's house and promised to bring him next time.

"I should have brought my baby with me," Yuliana Morales, Munoz's mother, told NBC4.

Darron Daniels, 20, and Maurice Kelley, 25, were arrested in connection with the shooting Thursday night.

A car wash to raise funds for Munoz's funeral is set for all day Sunday at the corner of McKinley Avenue and Baseline Street. Tacos will be sold at 2 p.m. as well.
