Hazmat Situation in Hollywood Closes Streets

The Los Angeles Police Department was called to Hollywood Monday night for crowd control in a hazmat situation.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department called LAPD out to the intersection of El Centro and Barton avenues at 10:07 p.m.

Police said LA City Fire was on a medical call for a patient suffering from Ebola-like symptoms, but it was later determined that she suffered from a routine illness.

LA City Fire acted out of "an abundance of caution" as the woman had just returned to Hollywood from a trip to Africa.

The woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

No other information was available.
