LA County Jobless Rate Holds Steady in October

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County held steady at 4.4% in October, compared to the previous month, the state Employment Development Department reported Friday.

Last month's unemployment rate was below the October 2018 rate, which was 4.7%, according to the EDD.

In Orange County, where seasonally adjusted numbers were not available, the October jobless rate was 2.5%, up from 2.4% in September.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.9% in October, down from the 4% rate in September and below the 4.1% rate in October 2018.

According to the EDD, total nonfarm employment in Los Angeles County increased by 38,100 between September and October to reach more than 4.6 million. The government sector led with way by adding 13,000 jobs.
