Remember the old Tail O' the Pup hot dog stand in West Hollywood (the one shaped like a hot dog)? Well, that land is now slated for what WeHo News calls the largest residential development in West Hollywood. But there has been debate over the style of the complex. Originally, the idea was upscale New York brownstones. But that's been replaced by cool California modern:
Originally conceived and entitled as a connected collection of Georgian brownstones with interior hallways, the redesign is proudly contemporary Southern Californian in its new iteration. Matt Jacobs, the West Hollywood resident who is guiding the project through the bureaucratic maze for Turnberry, told WeHo News that the idea was to take advantage of the climate. “We want to give people open air, but private, entryways to their home instead of long ill-lit corridors that take on the cooking aromas after time,” he said earlier this year.
The 151-unit complex is just north of Cedar-Sinai Medical Center and Beverly Center, bounded by Beverly Boulevard, San Vicente Boulevard and Sherbourne Drive.
So whatever happened to Tail O' the Pup? There was talk of relocating it to Westwood. Does anyone know? The "official" Tail O' the Pup website said it would reopen at an undisclosed location -- in 2007!
