Four juveniles were taken into custody and cited after police received a report of someone jumping a fence on the fringe of the airport Thursday morning, officials said.
Officers were called at 10:17 a.m. about an individual who had hopped the fence surrounding the LAX Sand Dunes and Blue Butterfly Preserve, LAX said in a statement.
The dunes and preserve are separated by a street from the restricted airfield at LAX.
The juveniles were cited and will be released to their parents, the statement said.
No additional details were immediately available, but airport police say the incident was not connected to an earlier security scare in which an unauthorized person was reported trying to access a JetBlue plane through a passenger bridge in Terminal 3.
