Death Investigation Underway After Woman's Body Found in Gardena Area

A 55-year-old man is facing murder charges for the death of a woman whose body was found Thursday outside of a motor home in the Gardena area.

The death was reported at 9:19 p.m. Thursday in the 14300 block of South Main Street, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff's Information Bureau. A woman was walking on the sidewalk when she noticed the victim laying face down, nude in a gutter in front of a motor home.

Upon realizing that the victim was not responding, the woman called 911 for help. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Schrader said.

Police detained the owner of the motor home for questioning then later charged him for the victim's murder. He claimed that the victim was a prostitute.

Homicide detectives were at the scene investigating early Friday.
