Dodgers Broadcaster Jaime Jarrin Receives Contract Extension

Jaime Jarrin, the Hall of Fame broadcaster who is the Spanish-speaking voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension thru 2020.

Jaime Jarrin, the Hall of Fame broadcaster who is the Spanish-speaking voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension.

The team said Thursday that Jarrin will return in 2019 and 2020, which would be his 61st and 62nd seasons with the Dodgers.

"It seems like it was just yesterday that I was at the Coliseum in 1959 and started my work with the Dodgers, the time goes so fast," said Jarrín on Thursday in a statement released by the team. "I’m still enjoying it just as much as I did 60 years ago. I love what I do, and it’s a privilege for me to be able to do it. I have had the opportunity to work with the best of the best, ballplayers, broadcasters and staff, and I have been so fortunate throughout my career. Of course, I have to thank the Dodgers and especially my wife Blanca for her support and for allowing me to do what I love all these years."

On Friday, Jarrín will become the 12th inductee into the Dodgers' Ring of Honor, joining a list of legends that include, Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Tommy Lasorda, Duke Snider, Jim Gilliam, Don Sutton, Walter Alston, Sany Koufax, Roy Campanella, Don Drysdale and Vin Scully. The ceremony begins at 6:30PM PST.

Jarrin, who turns 83 in December, began with the Dodgers in 1959, their second season in Los Angeles.

He says he's enjoying the job as much as he did 60 years ago.
