Family Watches on Security Cameras as Burglars Ransack Encino Home for Second Time This Year

The burglars cut the residence's power off after noticing there were surveillance cameras outside the home.

An Encino family is shaken up after their home was the target of a second burglary this year.

Two thieves ransacked their home on Wednesday in the 5700 block of Hesperia Avenue and took thousands of dollars worth of property in the form of cash, jewelry and more. The victims were alerted of the burglary from their phone after they received a text message from a home monitoring app.

"There's an app on your phone where you can access all the cameras immediately," Varty Hindoyan, one of the victims, said. "We saw the people in our backyard."

As they watched in horror, the family called 911 before the two burglars cut off the home's power.

"We couldn't see what was happening immediately, only the videos that were already shot," Hindoyan said.

The family filed a report with the West Valley Police Department and are seeking the public's help in identifying the thieves.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to contact the West Valley Detective Division at 818-374-7730.
