Help was being sought on Tuesday to find a man who distributed nude photos of an 11-year-old Valinda girl after meeting her through social media, authorities said.
The man met the girl through Facebook in April and had her take lewd photos that depicted her touching herself, said Sgt. Peter Hahn, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
He then circulated the photos online, Hahn said.
Authorities believe the man was using a false name when he persuaded the girl to send the explicit photos.
He was described as Latino and appears to be 18 years old, authorities said.
The girl never met the man in person and the LASD warned of the dangers of sending photos online.
"Once pictures get out on the Internet, they're forever," Hahn said. "Just be careful of who your friends are online."
