Huntington Beach Bartender Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run of Fountain Valley Resident

Authorities arrested the driver believed to be responsible for the death of a bicyclist on Wednesday during a hit-and run crash in Fountain Valley.

Justin German, a 25-year-old Huntington Beach bartender, is accused of striking Fountain Valley resident Binh Ngo, 41, without stopping to help the victim.

He has been charged with felony hit and run and booked into the Orange County Jail.

Authorities responded just before 1 a.m. to Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department. The victim died at the scene.

Ngo was riding his bicycle northbound on Brookhurst Street when a vehicle struck him, throwing him about 50 feet forward. The road does not have a bike lane, but drivers are obligated to make space for bicyclists, authorities said.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business helped police determine the vehicle involved in the crash was a red, early 90s Mustang.
