Man Convicted of Kidnapping Two Women in Pasadena

McDaniel -- who had a 2008 conviction for assault with intent to commit rape -- was wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time of the kidnappings.

A convicted sex offender was found guilty Wednesday of kidnapping two young women in Pasadena -- one of whom was injured while jumping out of his truck.

Jurors convicted Anthony Seth McDaniel, 41, of Compton, of two felony counts of kidnapping to commit oral copulation, according to Deputy District Attorney Fernanda Barreto, who said he faces a life prison term when sentenced Dec. 5.

The victims -- who were both 18 at the time -- were waiting at a bus stop at the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Montana Street on April 30, 2016, when McDaniel pulled up in an older-model, extended cab pickup and offered them a ride. Once he had the women trapped, he tried to sexually assault both of them, the prosecutor said.

One of the women injured herself after jumping out of McDaniel's truck on the onramp to the Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena. The other woman managed to escape after causing a traffic collision on the Harbor (110) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, Barreto said.

McDaniel -- who had a 2008 conviction for assault with intent to commit rape -- was wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time of the kidnappings.

He was arrested less than a week later and has remained in custody since then.
