Man Fatally Shot in Early Morning Home-Invasion Robbery in Garden Grove

A 25-year-old Garden Grove man was killed in a home-invasion robbery Monday morning, and three suspects were at large.

Shon Xavier Hall, of Garden Grove, was identified as the victim, according to the Garden Grove Police Department. The victim was "specifically targeted for robbery" in the isolated incident, Garden Grove police said.

"From the family members we’ve talked to they believe that 25-year-old victim may have possibly been involved in drug activity, so our residents can rest at ease that this house was specifically targeted," said Lt. Carl Whitney.

A trio of masked men broke into a residence in the 9100 block of Le Grand Avenue just after 4 a.m., said Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.

The robbers roused the victim and his girlfriend, demanding cash and drugs, Whitney said.

"At one point during the robbery, the male victim was shot a couple of times. He ran out of the house and collapsed in the driveway, where he died," the lieutenant said.

The man lived with his parents, who were also at home but escaped injury, as did the victim's girlfriend, Whitney said.

Friends of the victim describe him as a good kid who loved everyone, and everyone loved him.

The robbers fled in a dark-colored vehicle, and it was not immediately known if they took anything, he said.
