    21-Year-Old Shot, Killed in Montebello

A 21-year-old is killed in Montebello. Jane Yamamoto reports for NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2018. (Published Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018)

A man was shot and fatally wounded in a Montebello alley Saturday, and two suspects led police on a car chase before they were arrested in Monterey Park.

The shooting was at about 1:45 a.m. in an alley in the 600 block of Garfield Avenue, Montebello police said.

The victim -- Rudy Elguezabal -- was wounded multiple times, police said.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers got a description of the suspects' vehicle and it was located by Monterey Park officers, police said. After a short pursuit, the suspects bailed out of the vehicle and ran in the area of Garfield and Graves avenues.

One suspect was detained there and a weapon was recovered, police said. The second suspect was located later and they were both arrested at that point.

The suspects' names were not released.
