Perfect Pit Maneuver Ends IE Police Pursuit of Gold Pickup Truck

The Pomona Police Department was in pursuit of a gold pickup truck in the Inland Empire Sunday evening, and the chase eventually ended with a near-perfect pit maneuver by the California Highway Patrol.

Gil Leyvas and Newschopper4 Bravo caught up with the vehicle at approximately 5:20 p.m.

Initial reports from the scene suggested that the suspect may be armed, as the CHP confirmed that the suspect was wanted related to a weapons violation.

As the pursuit jumped from surface streets to the freeway, the CHP took over the pursuit from the Pomona PD.

The suspect originally was on the 10 Freeway but hopped onto the 605 Freeway before switching onto the 210 Freeway. The vehicle continued on the 210 Freeway eastbound into the city of Irwindale at approximately 5:37 p.m.

Soon after, the California Highway Patrol employed a pit maneuver with tremendous efficiency as the suspect attempted to get off the 210 Freeway and the perfect opportunity presented itself.

After a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered, and the CHP took the suspect into custody. The police chase ended peacefully in the city of Glendora at approximately 5:45 p.m. without the CHP employing the use of any visible use of minor or major force.
