Woman Arrested in Purse Theft Caught on Video at Grocery Store

A security camera in a San Pedro Ralphs supermarket shows a young woman trying to steal the purse of a disabled patron

A 22-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the theft of a purse from a disabled woman -- a crime that was caught on surveillance video at a grocery store.

Nicole Mirabile was arrested at her Lomita residence, according to police. Los Angeles police this week released a surveillance video (see below) that shows a disabled woman repeatedly falling as she tries to stop someone from stealing her purse.

Tips from people who saw the video helped police identify the suspect, police said.

The incident occurred on Sept. 2 at a Ralphs supermarket on N. Western Ave. in San Pedro.

The video shows the disabled woman shopping in an aisle of the market. When she turns away to get an item off the shelf, another woman takes the patron's purse out of her cart.

The disabled woman, who was not identified, was injured as she attempted to chase the purse-snatcher, police said. The purse-snatcher dropped the purse in another aisle and fled, police said.
