Police described the prowler as a woman in her 20s with a distinctive tattoo of stars and a crescent moon next to her left eye.

"She's pretty bold, walking into open garages during the day," said Los Angeles Police Lt. Paul Vernon in a press release.  "If she's unchallenged she goes into the home and takes the first thing she sees."

The last two incidents took place last Saturday in the 15400 block of San Jose Street and the 14500 block of Peach Avenue, police said.

When confronted by one resident, police said the prowler claimed to be looking for a woman by name who lived at the home, indicating that the prowler may live in the neighborhood or profiles the home before she arrives.

Police said the prowler may also be connected to a black Ford Explorer that was seen leaving the area of one burglary.
