Person Shot, Another Assaulted at Burbank Town Center

They were shot at the intersection of San Fernando and Magnolia boulevards

A man was shot and another assaulted at Burbank Town Center early Saturday.

The two men were hurt at the intersection of San Fernando and Magnolia boulevards outside the mall at around 1:26 a.m, Burbank Police Department said.

Albert Vasquez, 24, of Los Angeles has been booked for attempted murder in relation to the incident. A gun was recovered at the scene.

The shooting occured after two seperate groups clashed. There around five people in the shooter's group and up to six in the other. Police believe neither group is local.

Both victims had been watching a movie, before getting involved in the fracas. The shooting victim was hit in the leg, and is expected to survive. The other man suffered head injuries during the melee, but is also expected to be fine.

After the fight Vasquez allegedly ran across the 5 Freeway in an attempt to escape, but was caught by police officers. Police say the fight may have been gang-related.
