Mobile Drug Lab Discovered Inside a U-Haul Moving Truck

Officers reported liquid and a strong chemical odor coming from the U-Haul box truck

Liquid leaking from a U-Haul moving truck on a freeway led California Highway Patrol officers to pull its driver over early Monday in Orange County.

After noticing a strong chemical odor during the traffic stop in Fullerton, officers looked inside the truck and found what the CHP described as a mobile drug lab. The driver and passenger were arrested.

"Both don't want to talk," said CHP Officer Paul Fox. "They deny knowing information about what was int he back of the truck."

Chemical and equipment necessary to manufacture THC were found in the back of the truck, according to the CHP. It wasn't immediately clear whether the drug was being manufactured in the truck or at other locations.

Previous reports indicated items found in the truck were used to manufacture methamphetamine.

A hazardous materials team was at the scene Monday morning off the 91 Freeway. Part of Brookhurst Road was closed from the freeway to Roberta Avenue.
