Pursuit Ends in Crash Against Freeway Barrier, Driver Hides in Bush to Escape Police

    A high-speed driver wanted for an expired registration led the Montebello Police Department on a pursuit that ended in a crash on the transition road to the westbound 10 Freeway from the northbound 605 freeway on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017. (Published Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017)

    The driver behind the vehicle involved in a high-speed chase was arrested behind bushes near the Northbound 605 Freeway transition to the Westbound 10 Freeway late Friday.

    The Montebello Police Department responded to a vehicle with expired tags just before 11 p.m. in Montebello. The driver failed to yield, prompting a 15-minute pursuit that ended near Baldwin Park.

    The vehicle crashed into a freeway barrier before the driver fled the scene on foot. Police had their guns drawn towards a bush off the freeway, where the driver was hiding. Two other passengers in the vehicle were also arrested.

    The high-speed chase exceeded at least over 80 mph through surface streets and freeways.
