Woman Shot by Ex-Boyfriend in Boyle Heights Food 4 Less: Cops

A woman was shot in the leg at a grocery store in Boyle Heights Tuesday night by a man believed to her ex-boyfriend in what police are calling a gang-related incident.

At about 8:30 p.m., two men and two women entered the Food 4 Less at 2750 East First Street and confronted the victim, police said.

The suspected gunman’s new girlfriend allegedly got into a fight with the victim before gun shots rang out. The group ran from the store and hopped into a car, police said.

Remembering what her ex-boyfriend’s car looks like, the victim gave police a description of the alleged getaway car. Shortly after the group fled the scene, police caught up with the vehicle and took all four people into custody.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is listed in stable condition. No one else was injured.
