The 121st annual Tournament of Roses Parade is less than 24 hours away and workers are racing to put on the final touches.
The theme this year is "A Cut Above the Rest" and volunteer float decorators are proving that they are a cut above the rest. They've been working for weeks, and will continue through Thursday night, to make sure floats look perfect for tomorrow's parade.
U.S. Airways Pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who courageously and carefully landed his plane in the Hudson River earlier this year, will be in the lead float as Grand Marshal of this year's Tournament of Roses Parade.
Following him will be 41 floats, 22 marching bands, and 23 equestrian units from around the world.
And beginning at noon today, parade watchers can begin staking out their spots along the parade route.
Some freeway on-ramps and off-ramps in Pasadena will close tonight and reopen after the parade.
The Orange Grove Boulevard off-ramp from the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway will be closed from 8:00 p.m. and remain closed until 11:00 a.m. Friday, while the Orange Grove on-ramp to the westbound Ventura Freeway will close at 8:00 p.m. and not reopen until noon Friday, according to Caltrans.
