Caught on Camera: Thieves Swing Hammers to Smash Jewelry Store Windows

The thieves quickly smashed the windows and swiped merchandise before scrambling off at the Arcadia strip mall

Two masked thieves used hammers to smash out the front display case windows of a jewelry store in a quick midday heist in the San Gabriel Valley.

The 10-second smash-and-grab was captured from two camera angles Tuesday at Prince Jewelers in an Arcadia strip mall. The men ran around a corner, smashed the display case windows and swiped merchandise before sprinting out of view.

One of the thieves appeared to grab an item that was dropped on the ground outside the business in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. The store was open, but the two only reached through the windows and never entered the business.

Both burglars wore black hooded sweatshirts and masks, one of which appeared to be a green bandana. Detailed descriptions were not available.
