Body Parts Found at Separate Water Plants Belong to Missing Woman

Investigators believe the 27-year-old woman’s body was dumped into a sewer line, possibly through a manhole, and the forced pump ripped her body apart.

Human remains found at two Los Angeles County water plants belong to the same 27-year-old woman who disappeared three days before her body parts were found, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Tuesday.

Those body parts belong to Erin Lynn Cruz, of the East San Gabriel Valley, authorities said.

A human leg and foot were discovered Oct. 26 at the Los Angeles County Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in the 24000 block of South Figueroa Street in Carson. Two days later, Cruz’s torso was found at a treatment plant in Bassett -- some 30 miles northeast of where the first remains were discovered.

Investigators believe the 27-year-old woman’s body was dumped into a sewer line, possibly through a manhole, and the force of the pumps ripped her body apart.

Cruz was last seen alive the night of Oct. 23. Her cause of death has not been determined, but authorities are treating the case as a homicide.
