Orange County will get its groove back by 2011, according to economic forecasters at Cal State Long Beach.
The economists' report says "economic conditions will start to look considerably better by 2010. Furthermore, we predict that Orange County will be the best-performing area in the region by 2011, as a real recovery finally gets under way," according to a report in the Orange County Register.
But that prosperity will be preceeded by more tough times. Nearly 18,000 jobs will be cut in 2009. That's on top of the 31,000 jobs lost last year.
The projected increase would still leave the county more than 37,000 jobs short of its peak employment in 2006, according to the Register.
