Coroner Waits on Tests in Publicist Murder Case

Ronnie Chasen was shot and killed one week ago after a movie premiere party

The Los Angeles County Coroner tells NBCLA that they know what killed Hollywood publicist Ronnie Chasen, but they will wait to release the results until toxicology tests are complete.

Still, the mystery surrounding her murder remains.

A week ago Monday, the last images of Chasen were captured in Hollywood at the premiere for the movie "Burlesque."

Then Tuesday morning Chasen's Mercedes crashed on Whitter Drive in Beverly Hills. She was found with multiple gunshot wounds in her chest.

Private investigators weighed in, but little comes from the Beverly Hills police Department.

Thursday evening the mayor of Beverly Hills told NBCLA that Chasen appears to have been targeted in a car to car shooting.

Friday Beverly Hills Police Chief David Snowden quickly issued a statement asking the press to stop "relying on erroneous information" without giving specifics as to what had been inaccurately reported.

On Sunday an estimated thousand people gathered in Culver City for Chasen's funeral.

Like Chasen, they were mostly behind the scenes power players in the entertainment and music industry. Though actors Peter Fonda, Brenda Vaccaro and Elliott Gould were among the mourners.

"She was a superstar in her own right, and what she did was remarkable," according to Harold Matzner of the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The wait now, for any word as to why Ronnie Chasen had to die.
