Driver Shot in Hand in Toluca Lake Road Rage

A 23-year-old Van Nuys man has been charged with four felony counts for allegedly shooting a man in the hand in a suspected road rage attack on Tuesday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal Studios.

Sarkis Ambartsumyan was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Van Nuys Superior Court on one count each of attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police say Ambartsumyan tried to kill another driver in Toluca Lake on Tuesday. He was booked into jail early Wednesday, and bail was set at $500,000.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was expected to recover from the shooting.

Police said Ambartsumyan fled the scene but was captured a short time  later by members of the LAPD's North Hollywood Station.
