Earth Day: Sweep Up, Clean Up

You live here, so why not tidy up?  A stretch of prized California coastline needs your help to sweep up and clean up.

Days before Earth Day's 39th birthday (April 22nd), Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA) is inviting you to celebrate Mother Earth.   On Saturday, April 18th,  you can join beach lovers to clean up Point Fermin State Marine Park and Cabrillo Harbor.  Cart away tossed away aluminum cans, plastic bags and other debris from this protected shoreline.

Have old tennis shoes lying around?  Then bring those too!  They will be recycled.  Did you know those shoes are converted into material to build roads and create surfaces like tennis courts?

Once you're done catch the FREE Earth Day Fair at the Aquarium.  It runs 10a.m. to 3p.m.  You'll learn how to make your home more environmentally friendly.  Eco-experts will be there - so you can get advice straight from them.  Get hungry?  No problem.  There will be food and drink.  You'll also find an on-the-spot gift and bookstore.

Admission is FREE, but there is a $1 hourly parking fee.  Or - you can carpool or catch the trolley and be kinder to the earth that day.
