Man Found Shot to Death Inside Car in Irwindale

A man was found fatally shot Wednesday morning in Irwindale, and detectives are trying to piece together what happened with very little information.

The man was found inside of a car that had come to a stop in the middle of the street at Irwindale Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. He has not been identified pending notification of his next of kin.
"When (detectives) arrived, they saw that a male Hispanic adult was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," said Lt. Joe Mendoza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

They believe the shooting happened around 5:30 in the morning.

Sheriff's department officials said they are hoping someone might have seen or heard something that could help them figure this one out. They ruled out suicide because of all the gunshots that pierced the vehicle.

"The vehicle, we're processing it right now," Lt. Mendoza said Wednesday afternoon. "There is, it did sustain damage from gunshots but the exact amount we're trying to determine as we process the vehicle. We don't have any witnesses to tell us exactly what transpired here."

Area residents said the discovery was frightening.

"Kind of disturbing because I work right here at the bakery," said local resident Tyroni Williams. "I catch the bus every morning."

Williams said the time of the shooting is when he goes into work, but he was off for the holiday Wednesday.

"Luckily I'm off today," he said.

Detectives are hoping someone will come forward with information.

"At this point, we have nothing further, we're still investigating, looking for witnesses, if anyone has information to this incident," Mendoza said.
