Gov. Schwarzenegger is trying to get rid of the California Integrated Waste Management Board just two months after he and the Legislature appointed three termed-out lawmakers to the board.
The governor wants to do away with the six-figure salaries for board's six appointed members.
But conservation groups say eliminating the board will harm California's environmental regulation and oversight.
