Holiday Deadlines Loom for Online Shipping

After Wednesy overnight shipping may cost consumers an additional $25-$35

Stores may be open until Christmas, but Wednesday is the deadline to order items online if you want to receive your gifts before Dec. 25.

Apple, Dell and Urban Outfitters are among the major retailers with a Wednesday cutoff to place orders for pre-Christmas delivery without incurring additional shipping fees.

Shoppers who purchase before the clock strikes midnight will also enjoy free shipping from some outlets, including Urban Outfitters.

Wal-Mart is offering free shipping until Dec. 19 on electronics purchases.

Depending on the store, overnight shipping may cost consumers an additional $25-$35. Shoppers should also keep in mind that some companies may not ship on weekends.

For those finding themselves in a bind the day before Christmas, Amazon and Barnes & Noble will accept orders in select cities until Dec. 24.
