Hollywood Gunman Identified

Shooter was 26-year-old Tyler Brehm, coroner says.

The gunman who died after a shootout with police in Hollywood was identified Saturday as 26-year-old Tyler Brehm.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office said Brehm died in a shootout with police, after opening fire Friday morning in a busy area near Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street.

During his chaotic and deadly rampage, captured on tape, Brehm pointed his gun into a silver Mercedes-Benz and shot by 40-year-old John Atterberry, a music industry executive who lived nearby.

By late Friday night, Atterberry was in critical but stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Friday night, friends and neighbors came by Atterbery's Hollywood Hills home that he shares with his girlfriend to confirm the news and console one another.

"He's a great guy," said Tyava Winborne, a friend of the victim. "He was in my wedding. He and my husband are close friends."

"I was supposed to see him next Friday cause we're having a Christmas party at his house," Winborne said.

Another man was grazed by a bullet, but didn't sustain major injuries.

Much of the incident that involved the gunman firing into passing vehicles was caught on video.
