As part of a string of cancellations, a Los Angeles concert venue nixed its Michelle Shocked show on Tuesday, after the folk singer declared anti-gay sentiments during a San Francisco concert.
McCabe’s Guitar Shop, located in Santa Monica, is one of nine venues that have canceled Shocked’s visit. The previously scheduled March 23 show is listed as "canceled" on McCabe’s website with no additional information.
During her show at Yoshi’s Jazz Club on Sunday, 51-year-old Shocked, who allegedly identified herself as bisexual years ago, told the crowd, "I live in fear that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry."
She instructed concertgoers to "go on Twitter and say 'Michelle Shocked says God hates f***.'"
Despite Shocked’s recent devotion to Christianity and being a member of the Pentacostal West Angeles Church of God in Christ, fans know the "traveling troubadour" for her leftist, free-spirit lifestyle, according to her website bio.
"As a young feminist, she left Texas to travel, Kerouac-style, and was caught up in Reagan-era grassroots politics," according to the bio.
Shocked took to Twitter the night of her controversial rant and said, "Truth is leading to painful confrontation #shortsharpshocked." Since then, Shocked has engaged with Twitter users and retweeted fans’ responses to her anti-gay rant.

"Please for the fans who have loves u these 25 years, soul search and repair the pain u r causing. Michelle we want u back," said Twitter user Chris Freeman.
On Facebook, fans have expressed gratitude for the canceling of Shocked’s scheduled shows.
"Thanks for cancelling Michelle Shocked’s gig. Her hateful rant at the SF gig (which I was at) was horrid, and nobody else should be subjected to that," Facebook user Sally Greenberg wrote on McCabe’s Facebook page.
Another user, Martin Magee wrote, "thank you for supporting equality in California. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had to do this, but your fan base will be eternally grateful."
Other canceled shows include performances at Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz, Hopmonk Tavern in Novato and Palm’s Playhouse in Winters.
An online petition on change.org also urged fans to encourage venues to cancel Shocked’s shows.
"Freedom of speech and artistic expression are critically important, but this isn’t free speech. This is hate speech," the petition said.
