A woman was found dead Tuesday morning after fire in an apartment building in Lomita, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the 26000 block of Narbonne Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. and extinguished the flames in about 20 minutes, according to the county fire department. The fire was contained to one unit on the top floor of the two-story building.
Details about the deceased woman or a cause of death were not immediately available.
"There's nothing suspicious about the body," said Lt. Steve Jauch, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "There doesn't appear to be any outward trauma, but it's premature to say what we think the cause of death will be."
Neighbors reported smoke coming from the building early Tuesday. She lived in the apartment for about 10 years, according to neighbors.
