A 28-year-old man was charged today with killing his girlfriend's 17-month-old daughter in the city of Orange.
Christopher David Recio was charged with single felony counts each of child assault causing death and murder.
Recio is accused of killing his girlfriend's daughter Jan. 5 in the 3100 block of West Chapman Avenue, according to Sgt. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department. The victim's name was not released.
Firefighters were called about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 5 and rushed the girl to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, McMullin said.
Recio was arrested on Wednesday, McMullin said.
The baby sustained trauma to the head, McMullin said.
