Officers Shoot and Kill Man Armed With Hammer

Officers shot and killed a man armed with a hammer in the Inland Empire Saturday after a Taser was ineffective, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers responded to a report coming from a business in the 2900 block of Rubidoux Boulevard in Jurupa Valley at 10 a.m.

They arrived to find a man with a hammer, and officers asked him to drop it.

When he refused, officers tried using a Taser to stop him, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The Taser was "ineffective."

The man charged toward the officers with the hammer and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

After being transported to a local hospital, the man died.
