Who Will Rescue Me?

Fire crews Thursday rescued a great horned owl that was ensnared in netting about 25 feet above ground at the driving range of the  Eaton Canyon Golf Course in Pasadena, authorities said.

Emergency crews who were sent to the 3400 block of Sierra Madre  Boulevard about 9 a.m. used ladders to reach the stranded owl, said Lisa  Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.

The owl, about 15 inches long, was ensnared by its claws in the netting.  Firefighters cut away the netting, placed the owl in a cage and lowered it to  the ground, Derderian said.

The owl was then turned over to Humane Society personnel, Derderian said, adding that it appeared to have been unharmed.
