The westbound Pomona (60) Freeway was shut down for more than five hours in Rowland Heights after a suspect fired at a patrol car during a police pursuit Saturday.
The suspect was taken into custody after a brief standoff on the freeway near Hacienda Boulevard, a California Highway Patrol official said.
The pursuit began in San Bernardino, officials said. The driver shot at patrol cars during the pursuit, but no one was injured. City News Service reported that officers returned fire.

After several more miles, the suspect stopped his car on the freeway just east of the Hacienda Boulevard of-ramp. He gave up without incident after about 10 minutes, CHP said.
The freeway was shutdown for about 4 miles between Fairway Drive (map) and Hacienda Boulevard.
The standoff ended at about 1:55 p.m., and the freeway has remained closed for an investigation until about 7:15 p.m.
