Liquor Store Robbery Suspect Surrenders to Santa Ana Police

Another suspect seen driving a car has not yet been located.

A man seen in news reports of a liquor store armed robbery turned himself in to authorities Thursday, Santa Ana police said.

Anthony Sanchez, 18, of Santa Ana, was booked on suspicion of robbery after turning himself in and being questioned by detectives, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Police on Tuesday released surveillance video of the robbery in hopes of generating leads in the 4 1/2-month-old investigation.

The armed robbery of Nady's Liquor Store at 652 S. Harbor Blvd. occurred about 10:40 p.m. June 22.

A woman got out of the driver's seat of the getaway car, a 2015-17 black Dodge Charger with tinted windows and five-star rims, and peered inside before the gun-toting robber entered the store, police said.

The male suspect threatened a clerk with a semi-automatic firearm he pulled out of his waistband before demanding money and fleeing with the stolen cash, according to police.

The getaway driver was described as a Latino woman with long, dark hair, about 5-foot-3 and weighing 120 to 130 pounds.

Anyone with information about the identity of the at-large suspect or whereabouts was asked to call detectives at 714-245-8362 or email DGreaver@santa-ana.org. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 855-TIP-OCCS.
